Practical answers to the questions we hear most often from owners and prospective clients.

About Dennis Capital

What kind of firm is Dennis Capital?

Dennis Capital is a fee-based financial consulting firm. We provide fractional CFO services, investment underwriting, deal structuring, exit planning, and finance automation to privately held, owner-operated businesses. We are not a broker-dealer, we do not manage outside investor capital, and we do not earn commissions on transactions.

Where are you located?

Headquartered in Denver, Colorado. We serve clients across the United States, primarily remotely with on-site work as the engagement requires.

How many clients do you take on at a time?

A deliberately limited number. We choose depth of relationship over breadth of roster. If we cannot do the work justice, we will tell you and refer you elsewhere.

Engagements & Fees

How do engagements typically start?

With a confidential discovery conversation at no charge. If both sides agree there is a fit, we propose a short diagnostic — typically two to three weeks — that produces a written assessment and a prioritized work plan. Most ongoing engagements begin after the diagnostic.

What does an engagement cost?

Fees vary by scope. Diagnostics are fixed-fee. Ongoing fractional CFO retainers are billed monthly based on a defined cadence. Underwriting and exit-prep projects are typically fixed-fee with milestone billing. We will not start work without a written scope and a clear fee.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. We will sign a mutual NDA on request before sharing sensitive information in either direction. Standard practice and never an obstacle to getting started.

How long do engagements last?

From a few weeks for a discrete underwriting project to multiple years for embedded fractional CFO work. Most clients begin with a defined scope and choose to extend.

Working Together

Do you work with my accountant and tax advisor?

Yes — closely. We do not replace your accounting or tax relationships; we sit one layer above them, coordinate the close, and translate the work into decision-ready reporting for the owner.

What accounting platforms do you support?

Sage, QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), NetSuite, Xero, and Microsoft Dynamics are the platforms we work with most often. We can also support migration between platforms when the current stack no longer fits the business.

Will I be working with you or a junior?

You will work with the senior principal directly. Where additional capacity is needed, we bring in trusted specialists by name, with your prior approval, and the principal remains responsible for the engagement.

Do you provide investment advice to individuals?

No. We advise companies and their owners on corporate finance matters — capital structure, transactions, financial operations. We do not manage personal investment portfolios and we do not provide personalized securities recommendations to individuals.
